Classes and Clubs

Join us on Mar. 19, 20 and 21st for a three-day quilting retreat at Prairie Point Quilt & Fabric Shop!

Learn the technique that will allow any quilter to quickly, easily, and accurately piece traditional Lemoyne Star blocks in 10 different sizes! The block units are strip pieced, assembled without using any Y seams, pieced so that the blocks themselves are slightly oversized so at the end each can be trimmed to an exact size.

Cost: $ 35.00
If you have learned the embroidery basics, join in the fun of putting those basics together with some buttons, beads, and ribbon to create a beautiful crazy quilt. The first class will be getting the foundation blocks together and talking about supplies. Each month we will learn and practice more stitches, variations on those stitches, and putting them together to create crazy, fun, and gorgeous blocks.

Cost: $ 40.00
Make a baby blanket with super soft Cuddle and double gauze. You will learn tips on sewing with these fabrics and see some creative ways to use them. Barb will also show how to make the blanket with flannel.

Cost: $ 20.00
Learn the basics of paper piecing to create perfectly precise blocks, working from easy to a little more challenging. Turn those blocks into a fun project, framed art, wall hanging, or quilt!

Cost: $ 25.00
We will be working on this sweet bouquet-of-flowers wall quilt in this ongoing class. With this you will be perfecting several applique techniques. It is a relaxing design that you should be able to easily accomplish.

This is a continuation of Tucker University classes for those already enrolled.

Join the Grids Girls team! In this series of classes, you'll not only learn to use some of the most popular and useful Creative Grids tools - including the Spider Web, Square on Square, Strippy Stars, and Log Cabin tools - but you'll also become the proficient, accurate quilter you've always wanted to be! Wendy will guide through all the ins and outs of each tool or ruler in the class. Come join in the fun!

Cost: $ 60.00
Wool club starts a new year, so bring your wool projects to work on and finish! Each month we will have show-n-tell, see what is new in the shop, work on projects, and enjoy the evening. Lisa will be available to help or review stitches. If you would like to participate, we will also be starting a wool block of the month, and kits will be available to purchase. Pay for only the months you can attend.

Cost: $ 5.00
Tucker University is a new and exciting opportunity to help quilters build their skills and accuracy. Each class covers a different Studio 180 tool along with ways to expand the use of the tool. The creativity is contagious.

Cost: $ 90.00
Join us as we work through the creation of an English Paper Pieced Grandmother's Flower Garden quilt each month.

Cost: $ 40.00
In this class, Barb will help you get started in making your Mrs. Miller's Apprentice Block of the Month quilt and show you shortcuts that will make the four identical blocks each month come together with ease!

Cost: $ 30.00
Barb has found another way to play with Bargello Quilts and this time she teams it up with a Jelly Roll. We will be making a wall hanging or it can easily be made into a bag to carry our rulers and cutting mats to and from class.

Cost: $ 30.00
Here at Prairie Point, we are an official Quilts of Valor shop. That means that every month, you can join us here to make quilts that will be presented to service members and veterans touched by war. Bring your own ideas and projects for quilts, or participate in a group project.

You are invited to join a unique bimonthly club that will take you on a journey back in time. Gather together as the "Prairie Women" did; hear anecdotal stories about their quilt making, what daily life was like for those who traveled by wagon train on the Oregon Trail, the lives of quilters during the Civil War, and the years of women's suffrage for equal rights. Not only will you learn how our quilting ancestors created quilts by "Making-Do" with what they had, you will be invited to do so yourself!

Cost: $ 78.00
Yoyos are fun to make and easy to do. But what do you do with them? In this class, we will look at all kinds of ways to use these unique little quilt blocks. We'll look at traditional ways from the past (quilts, towels, table toppers/runners) to some fun and different ways to enjoy these little morsels of delight (ornaments, pillows, quilts, and more). Come discover all the shapes available (yes, there are more than just circles!) and be prepared to let your imagination fly as we look into designs of our own.

Cost: $ 25.00
If you do not think of yourself as an expert repair person or mechanically inclined, you will be pleasantly surprised to learn you can maintain your Singer Featherweight yourself! This is an in-depth hands-on class that most Featherweight owners will want to take to keep their machines running for years.
