Classes and Clubs


In this class, we will be learning two methods of machine applique; raw-edge and turned edge. Sometimes you will want to use one over the other, depending on your project and the outcome you wish. This class will give you a taste of both to get you started. You will have time to finish the block in class. So bring your lunch and let's have some fun!

Venice Revisited - Kathy Delaney

Join Kathy as she takes you on a memory trip to Venice where she introduces you to some of the art she found there. Kathy has designed a larger small quilt (or is it a smaller large quilt?), part fraktur, part album, and only 3 blocks. The 3 blocks are about 22"x34" each. You will be presented a new pattern every 4 months. It will be a lovely trip!

Binding Basics - Susan Thorup

Learn the basics of binding a quilt - cutting strips, piecing them together, preparing your quilt top, applying binding to the quilt, and sewing it down by hand. We will also discuss sewing down by machine, curves, and unusual angles. This is Binding 101! Bring one (or more quilts) to class.

The Brightly quilt is a versatile pattern that will make a multitude of fabrics look amazing. This class is a great next class for a beginner. We will be working on chain piecing, snow-balling corners, and 9-patch blocks.

Firecracker Quilt - Sally Jennings

The Firecracker quilt is a traditionally pieced pattern. This fabric requirements allow for stash busting also. This quilt pattern also allows for table runners, bench pillows, etc. to be constructed instead of a large throw. Block construction will be demonstrated in class. The pattern allows for quick piecing ensuring you'll be ready for 4th of July!

Pre Festival Event! 'An Evening with Laugh Yourself into Stitches' Meet Karen Walker for an evening with her quirky quilts, talk on Piecing Tiny Pieces, door prizes, refreshments, and fun! Karen has been a pattern designer and quilt teacher for the past 10+ years. Her quilts have been published in Nancy's Notions, Simply Vintage, and even on the cover of Keepsake Quilting Catalog. Her recent designs can be seen at the upcoming Kansas City Regional Quilt Festival in the Need'l Love booth. Karen will be sharing many of her original quilts, including important piecing tips and techniques to help strengthen or 'refresh' one's quilting skills.

New! The Elizabeth Hartman day will allow quilters of all levels to learn the ins and outs of the adorable animal patterns. The morning will be spent learning cutting techniques and organizational tips for each pattern. Then, after lunch, we?ll construct a single pattern block either for a quilt or large floor pillow. Since there are so many different patterns available, students will have the choice of which pattern to create! Beehives? Koalas? Whales? Dinosaurs? It?s your pick! Of note, I love to cut these patterns using the Mini Stripology Ruler.
